The Battle of Poltava
The Battle of Poltava - the biggest battle of the Great Northern War - took place on June 27th 1709. It was a battle between two big powers - the Russian army of Peter The Great and the Swedish army led by Charles XII. Charles XII of Sweden suffered a crushing defeat: during the battle nearly 10 thousand men were killed and 3 thousand Swedish soldiers were taken as prisoners. The remains of the Swedish army surrendered.
The Swedish army's defeat in the battle of Poltava determined the further course of the entire Northern War. At the location where the battle took place, there is a museum-reserve "The Field of Poltava Battle", in which there are a number of monuments for the defenders of Poltava and two monuments for the Swedish soldiers and officers, was built in 1909 on the occasion of 200th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava.

Preliminary accepted application is needed for an ethnographic excursion:
"We are all children of the Cossack territory". In its program - a clay modeling lesson, which conducts a real potter, a view of related films, a performance of national folklore - of ethnographic group "Yakivchanski vitivki/Яківчанські витівки", having fun in a cossack tradition.
A Night excursion of "Myths and Facts of the field of the battle of Poltava" will be held in the evening with the participation of the Matveev art studio, battle reenactors, members of the fiery show. The excursion begins in the field of the Poltava battle near the reconstructed fortification, it also includes an overview of the museum viewing excerpts of films, slides, a reconstruction of a fragment of the battle, in the end - a fire show.
