The Currency of Ukraine

The currency of Ukraine is Hryvnia (UAH) (1 hryvnia = 100 kopiyok)
Money notes are from 1 to 500 (UAH) and coins from 1 to 50 (UAH).
Banks, hotels (exchange desk), shops and licensed kiosks are the right places for exchanging money in Ukraine. The exchange rate may differ depending on the place of transaction. Passport is not a necessary document during the money exchange.
The exchange of money is done usually from Hryvnia to US dollar and Euro and vice versa.
Most major hotels, restaurants, shops and pay phones (ATM) accept VISA and MasterCard /Euro Card. These credit cards can be used also in the ATM's. We do not recommend using travelers checks during your stay in Ukraine. Using credit card or simply cash in hand is the easiest way to avoid problems with the paying operations.
